June Monthly Minute

Dear Pegasus Families,

Thank you for helping us Celebrate and making the best 35 Anniversary Year and Showcase a huge success!!
My heartfelt gratitude to every parent, every family, every teacher who made this dream come true. When we were not sure that our dancers would actually get on stage after the past two virtual Showcases and this year's up’s and down’s it felt a bit like a miracle that we made it. 
For those dancers who had big hopes to get on the stage and at the last minute because of injuries and illness could not, we Celebrate you and your hard work, commitment to your classes and classmates. We celebrate the journey you made this year, as we know how hard it is to have not made it to the stage.  We are proud of YOU!!

I hope you have all had a chance to look at the Anniversary Yearbook, from the QR code in the program or your child’s copy that they very happily and with excitement got the friends and teachers signatures.  

We did end up with a few signed copies, so please let us know if your child does not have theirs as we more than likely have it and would love to get it to its rightful owner.
Above is the QR code to the online copy to read or if you would prefer to have a printed copy, we still have a few left and are happy for you to have one, just let us know.

FALL REGISTRATION
We hope you have had a chance to look over your Fall Registration package.  We miss the opportunity to chat and answer any questions, so we want to take this opportunity to open up the conversation.

Our Faculty and Staff take time each year to look at the needs of all students and make recommendations for the 2022-23 Season.  These were included in your package.
We have both Foundation and Progressive Technique classes to meet the needs of all students, whether they are a once a week dancer or a dancer who is committed to several classes a week. For each dancer’s progress we look at three criteria: 1. Emerging Skills 2. Developing Skills 3. Mastering Skills.
 
As our mission is to help our children become future leaders, most dancers will spend two years in each level, being learners and leaders in their time at that level.  In our effort to teach more than just dance, teaching empathy, respect, kindness and personal responsibility is part of each curriculum. Parent support to help manage expectations goes a long way towards a positive response regardless of which level they are placed in for the next season : )

Your child’s placement recommendation is on your Parent Portal, but we also are happy to set a time to chat. Please let us know if you would like to book an appointment.

SCHEDULE AND CLASS WAITLISTS
Please register as soon as possible as we are finding that some classes have filled very quickly. We will be reviewing all classes, adding additional and eliminating some.   Don’t hesitate as we are making some changes to classes with low registration!  If you want a class NOW is the time. If a class has a waitlist please add your name so we can add another class.

Referral Special - Did you know that if you refer a new family to Pegasus that both you and the new family receive a tuition credit of $30 that is applied to your last monthly payment.

ON MY MIND 
DISCOVERING A ‘THIRD PLACE’ THROUGH DANCE
(excerpt from the Anniversary Yearbook)
Looking back over the past 35 years of Pegasus Studios we have taught, celebrated, encouraged, and learned from each child as they became part of our studio family and found a place in our hearts. It has been a joy to watch so many come to Pegasus as the youngest of dancers and to watch them grow into happy, healthy, and confident graduating seniors going on to explore the world. We, at Pegasus, grow to love each child and they leave an imprint on us all, as we hope we do for them. 
What started 35 years ago as a simple belief that dance and the arts are essential for healthy children. Over time we have realized that dance is what social scientists call a ‘third place’ where lifetime friendships are made, confidence is created, and creativity is nurtured. Dance creates conscientious young people who share their gifts and talents with the community. 
My hope and mission is to see a better future for our children and to inspire and help them find their passion. In a world that has stalled the past two years, we need the arts more than ever. We can help our children find their purpose and passions through music, movement, and art by connecting with our hearts and emotional mind. Art is emotion in action. 
We will continue to take this mission forward as we know that the arts can nurture and empower children to be confident, creative, happy children and artists.
