Conscious Parenting
For 35 years Pegasus Studios has focused on more than just dance and art classes. The legacy from our founders, Jane Davis-Munro and Lynda Johnson, was to create a community of nurturing and supporting children, artists and their families. Jane has set an example of what it means to show up for families by always being available to speak with families and stand by them through the good and the challenging times. Although it is not easy, our role to show up for our children inside and outside the dance studio has never been more important. Many years ago, Jane and I were fortunate enough to attend a conference where we heard Jill Molli, a Conscious Discipline Master Instructor speak. Jane knew right away that she wanted to bring Jill to Toronto to speak to our Pegasus community. Conscious Discipline was developed by Dr. Becky Bailey for use in schools and daycares and was quickly adapted for parents to use with their children. Dr. Bailey’s books Conscious Discipline and Easy to Love, Difficult to Discipline as well as her workshops and resources focus on teaching children life skills and promoting self-esteem through positive discipline.

Happy November!
Yes we are Happy for many, many reasons! Happiness comes from within us and not from what we have or what we do but how we experience the world around us. We all understand that living from a life of gratitude can shift our mood from what is not enough to enough. Easier said than done and how do we teach this to our children? This is so important as we realize all of the simplest things that we did without this past year and as we rebuild our lives adding the things that are most important. For our children, helping them move past disappointments and take the time to honor the experiences and express gratitude for the lessons learned will allow us to turn the negative into a positive and help us move forward. This is one of those lifetime skills we want for our children as we nurture them into adulthood. |
