Our Recital Commitment to You

​Our goals with every recital are a) to find the joy, enthusiasm, and excitement of working towards a long-term goal and b) to teach the performance element of dance. We strive to celebrate each individual child in the process and discovery of learning.

Here are some of our recital commitments to you:

• We focus on the educational elements of producing a recital including the following:
  • exploring the “performance” part of the dance discipline
  • teaching the methods of learning, developing, and working with choreography
  • learning the process of staging; from costuming, to backstage etiquette, to working with technicians
  • developing performance skills such as musical interpretation, storytelling through dance, and working with teammates
• We ensure that all music, costumes, and choreography are developmentally and age appropriate. 
  • This includes continual review and improvements on our costuming practices to create a respectful space where all body types are celebrated. We know we that can always grow and continue to do better in this area, and we are committed to examining our actions and practices at each step for a more thoughtful approach.
• We promote dance as a performative art discipline with an ability to connect to an audience on an emotional level and make a difference in the lives of people watching. 
• We communicate pertinent recital information to our families in a timely manner and in multiple formats (including emails, newsletters, social media, paper handbooks, and posted notices in the building).
