If our walls could talk, they would be filled with joy and excitement. Coming to work in my office at Pegasus during lockdown is very sad and slightly eerie knowing the possibility of the joy of our community when we are together, creating, exploring, and discovering together.
We are SO excited to be back in the studio and to see our children who have learned flexibility and resilience, but want to move, chat and be inspired by each other and their teachers. They may not have noticed yet, but they have learned so much while doing virtual classes that many teachers have told me they have easily continued and developed from the foundations they have set when virtual. They have not missed a beat! It is so exciting!! In the past, February was ‘Love Month’ at Pegasus. But it feels more fitting this year to call it Compassion Month! We will find ways to weave together and discover compassion through words, movements & discussions in our classes this month. I will share photos in the Pegasus Families Facebook page of the picture collages, words of compassion for ourselves and others in our class, families or community. I am excited to see what the children come up with. You might also have seen or heard about the encouragement cards that we have been sending home with your children. We wanted them to know how much we appreciate their efforts for being consistent, showing up even when they did not feel like it and continuing and coming back to classes. We hope that they will keep these little cards in their dance bag, pocket, use as a bookmark or keep somewhere to remind them how proud we are of them! We also celebrate you, the parents! Thank you for believing in the importance of a creative community and the arts and the value of teaching our children the importance of showing up, being consistent and setting goals. I know this has been incredibly difficult, but we support you and celebrate each child. Reminders;
With Gratitude Jane
