Pegasus Studios is a family owned and operated studio. We function with our values, beliefs and culture at the forefront and we review our mission weekly. We wanted to take some time to share it with you.
Family First- We are here to help, support and encourage our Pegasus families to keep both family and studio obligations. Helping our students learn how to keep commitments and prioritize obligations is a life skill. We are here to help find solutions, please reach out. Positive Role Models- The people you surround yourself with can either lift you up or bring you down. We choose to lift up; for the families we serve and the employees we bring into the Pegasus Studios family. We aim to be positive role models to all who participate in our programs. Passion/Connection- By sharing our passion for our art we are building connections with our students and their families. It’s through these connections that our students find their second home or “third place” at Pegasus and develop their own passions for creative expression. This has become even more important in the past year and a half and our staff have placed extra emphasis in the classroom on creating connections with their students and between students. Age Appropriate Costumes and Choreography- We will honor the dignity of childhood by choosing costumes, themes, music, and movement that encourage, uplift, challenge and inspire. We aim to look for gender neutral options. All our staff are certified through Youth Protection Advocates in Dance (YPAD) to ensure we are putting the safety of our students above all else. Encourage Creativity- Dance is nothing if not an ever-evolving expression of creativity. We are born with it, but it dwindles out over time unless nurtured. Pegasus Studios is a place where creativity can grow in both adults and children. Process over Perfection- We strongly believe that the process is more important than being perfect in our end result. We strive to celebrate the wins along the way, maintain an environment where children can grow and blossom at their own pace and we practice the basics to ensure a solid foundation in all our dancers. Dance Lessons Teach Life Lessons- We want to teach children to get up when they fall down, to finish what they start, to learn and grow with grace, to manage their time, and work as a team towards a goal. These lessons, not plies and pirouettes, are the lessons that last. Give back to the Community- We leverage our success as a studio for significance in the community. We will teach children to use their gifts and talents to serve others as responsible members in the community. As a studio we continuously review this Studio Culture. We adjust, make changes and add to them. We welcome your feedback on the above with open ears, eyes and hearts.

As I write this Monthly Minute our friends in the USA are celebrating Thanksgiving and we at Pegasus Studios are reflecting that on this week a year ago we were mandated to lock down our business and back into Virtual Learning. We rushed to complete some of our Royal Academy of Dance Ballet examinations as the dancers had been working so hard and it was important for those dancers to complete that milestone and feel a sense of accomplishment.
Many children and families are still doing virtual learning and we still are navigating difficulties of irregular internet and what hybrid learning entails. But we are grateful and excited that we are in the studio, building relationships and connections with your children. The next step is having parents back in the building and connecting in person with you!! We are and will continue to be cautious and slow as we continue all health and safety protocols and the possibility of more in the building in the New Year. But for now we CELEBRATE and are GRATEFUL and never take for granted the importance of connection and being in person sharing what we need the most at this time - learning through the ARTS! |
