Hello! For those I have not had the opportunity to meet personally, my name is Jane Davis-Munro. As the Artistic Director of Pegasus Studios I want to welcome you to our 30th Anniversary Year!
So, our first week has come and gone and in the business of the first weeks of school, dance, fitting school clothes and dance wear, we are a little bit tired! What a whirlwind, but we are excited about what this year will hold for the growth, development, friendships and possibilities for your child at Pegasus Studios. During the first week of classes we all hope it will be smooth sailing. That your child loves the teacher, the class and connects with their classmates. But in reality, we sometimes have younger children, who are overtired and are adjusting to new routines, crying and having difficulty with transitions. Older students may be questioning placement in classes, making new friends, remembering technique from last year and slowly getting back into top dancing shape! This is all very normal. Be patient. This is what happens every September.

It is week 2 of classes and now that routines are starting to become normal again, dance wear has been fitted and everything is falling into place, we thought we would share this video from a few years ago to help you get your hair in order too! All of our ballet classes require a ballet bun, but they are also perfect for any dance discipline as they keep hair neatly off the face and out of any danger of getting the old "ponytail in the face during a pirouette" situation. So we highly recommend them for all classes!! P.S. If your hair is really short and you can't get it into a ponytail or a bun don't worry! Just neatly pull it off your face with clips and/or a headband so that it doesn't bother you during class. Welcome to our first week of our 30th year! We can hardly believe it. Sometimes it feels like only yesterday that we were running our classes out of small little store front at Greenwood and Queen! Now all those students have grown up (many even have their own children!!) and we are entering our thirtieth year of business. So many things have changed; families have grown up and moved on, teachers have enriched our lives before their next ventures, our space has morphed from just the basketball court in the basement to four fully equipped dance studios, an art studio and a new preschool playroom. But one thing has stayed the same, our community. From new families, to seasoned veterans and even parents and students who have graduated, our community has always been supportive, positive, lovely, generous and passionate about what happens at Pegasus.
So, THANK YOU! You have all made this dream possible and we can't wait to keep celebrating our birthday with you. |
