Briar Munro, Master Trainer & Pilates Instructor -- When I was 12 years old I was diagnosed with Perthes – a degeneration of the bones – in my hip. I have since had three hip surgeries and ongoing pain, but I haven’t let that stop me. As a child, I participated in high impact sports such as dancing and martial arts. As an adult, I am active and exercise every day to continue to improve the range of motion and strength in my hip. After I attained full certification as a Personal Trainer and Lifestyle Coach from George Brown College, I worked in several large gyms. I encountered many men & women who were uncomfortable training in that type of setting. To increase one’s level of fitness and quality of life, I believe it is important to create a comfortable and invigorating workout environment. So, in 2006, I started Fly Girl Fitness. My goal is to work with you by providing you with ongoing support and encouragement, we can help you increase your fitness level and improve your quality of life. What differentiates Fly Girl Fitness is that everyone in our classes gets personal attention. And we're always keen to provide modifications to exercises to suit your fitness level. We work with clients at all stages of health, fitness and recovery from past injuries. Everyone has a place in our classes! Exercise has saved my life. I have maintained my weight and strength even through carrying and birthing my first child. Even with Perthes, I am able to walk, sit, sleep, jump, and perform all those “every day” activities. By staying active, I am calm, confident, strong and mobile. I hope to help you feel the same way. Briar is also a co-author of the best selling book “The Wellness Code” which was released April 2012.
