Choosing the Right Early Childhood Programs for your Child

Childhood Expressions Preschool Program

​Thirty-three years ago, our Founding Directors, Jane Davis-Munro and Lynda Johnson developed our Childhood Expressions Preschool Program. Since then, the program has been refined and updated, but always rooted in teaching the joy of dance and art to young children. This program informs much of what we do here at Pegasus Dance Studio. 

Pulling from her experience as a Certified Early Childhood Educator, Jane Davis-Munro has ensured that the Childhood Expressions program works in conjunction with the foundational healthy practices of childhood development. This focus means that children are encouraged to grow as individuals as they bring their unique spirit to each class. 

There are three unique sections of the program. The first is Music & Movement, where your children will explore how to make music with percussion instruments and explore their own spontaneous movements. The program helps develop their basic locomotor skills, body awareness, and control.

In the Exploring Art section, kids get to make their own artwork, exploring colour, shape, form, and texture. Remember, the process of creation is always more valuable than the end product. The program also offers preliminary scientific, nature, and math concepts. 

The last section of the program is Dramatic Play. Every day, children explore a different theme through roleplaying. We utilize felt boards, puppets, fingerplay, rhymes, and books to help Toronto kids build their language, vocabulary, and sequencing skills. 

This program is designed for children 30 months as of January 1st, 2020, and takes place every Tuesday and Thursday from 9-11:30 AM.

Dance with Me Program

If your young child aged three or under has a love of dance and movement, then our Dance With Me program is an exceptional choice for a Toronto early childhood education program! 

This music and movement Toronto dance class is for toddlers AND their caregivers. It offers a supportive and nurturing environment where children can explore dance, song, instruments, and literacy activities. Not only will it help with their socialization, but it also offers you an opportunity to bond with your child while doing something entirely new!

This Toronto dance class/early childhood education program is offered every Friday from 9:30 to 10:15 AM.  

Fairytale Creative Ballet Program

For slightly older boys and girls (4-year-olds born in 2015), we offer the Fairytale Creative Ballet Program. Also incorporating the principles of Early Childhood Education, this program encourages a love of ballet, movement, storytelling, and expression. The program is based on our renowned Creative Ballet program, one of our favourite Toronto dance classes, but with a fairytale twist!

We build each class around a fun, modernized twist on a fairytale classic, teaching your child valuable lessons about empowerment, courage, enthusiasm, and determination. Everyone enrolled in the class will also participate in our year-end showcase at the end of May, so parents will be able to see their children’s work/play firsthand!

This program is held every Thursday from 5:45-6:30 PM.
