Monthly Minute-August 2022

How time flies!!  We are halfway through summer already!   The studio is on summer hours for the next couple of weeks as we rest, rejuvenate and regroup!  We also have been busy in the community at the East Lynn Farmers Market (come join us Thursday, Aug 18th at 4:30), hosting Beatty Buddies DayCare classes and the Faculty connecting and learning new things at the Toronto Dance Teacher Expo and elsewhere.  We are getting ready for a great Fall Season! We are most excited to see you back in the Studio soon!!
Since we know that the Performing Arts is a powerful tool for building our children’s confidence, how can we help  set the stage for success?  This month's blog post is all about this, to read more click Here.
How can we prepare in shifting from summer schedules to fall routines and how do we help our children  succeed?  It’s about developing routines, followed by the culmination of consistency, making small improvements over time and celebrating the small wins along the way.  We all thrive when learning and growing in a safe and caring environment.
One of the ways we help develop confidence and leadership at Pegasus Studios is setting a family like environment and giving our children the opportunities and understanding on how to be at the youngest in the class as a ‘learner’ learning new skills  and then continuing in a class where they are the oldest, as a ‘leader’ building confidence and strength of technique.   In a nurturing environment with caring, compliments,  corrections and congratulations from the teacher, each dancer becomes encouraged to grow and thrive.
We all worry if we will fit in, find the best supportive group to connect with and grow with.  So taking teachers' recommendations on which class and style will be the best place for a successful year is a great place to start.  Trying new things can be scary and a bit intimidating at first but this is part of the process of reaching outside our comfort zone in a supportive environment.  Our children need a place with other caring adults to help nurture and support them.  Pegasus Dance Studios is a place to start and a place to grow.
The first  day and week of classes there is often shyness, nerves, or anxiety that can make a child’s confidence waver. Part of the process of the first few weeks of class is to help build up their “confidence muscles”, to connect with old friends and make new friends. 
Below are a few suggestions for helping with this transition back to class. We will be in the studio the next few weeks giving tours for new families, fitting dance wear and accepting and swapping used dancewear, so please come and visit us.

INTENSIVE SUMMER DANCE PROGRAM
Jump Start your Year!! August 29 to September 2rd For all dancers 11 years and up, get back into shape quickly by joining our Intensive Summer Program.  We have curated the best well rounded program with guest artists and favourite teachers, to inspire, motivate and jump start your training.  These dancers will be way ahead of the curve when our regular season begins! 
For those dancers with big plans and goals and who are thinking ahead to Performances, Exams or Competitions, now is the perfect time to get started, get into shape and start September ready to go!.   We can help you reach your goals!   There is limited space left in this program.

GROWING AND THRIVING 
As part of our goal to set the stage for success, we can help your child reach personal goals and develop skills to help them feel confident and thrive in class.   Book a private or semi private lesson with one of our teachers, before classes begin or any time during the school year. Our caring faculty can design an individual program for your child.  You can book one or a series at a discounted rate that can be scheduled throughout the year. STEPP - (Student Teacher Education Pegasus Program) for 12 years and up and STAR Leadership for 10 to 12 years. Be Part of the East End Community Arts Fair Dance Flash Mob! We will be remounting the Family Dance from the Showcase and would love to have you join in the fun!!

Join us in a family community flash mob to celebrate the return of the Danforth East Arts Fair! Pegasus Dance Studios will be leading an easy and fun routine. All ages are welcome. Come and dance together with your neighbours!   The first practice will be on Thursday, Aug. 25 from 6:00 - 6:45 pm at Pegasus Dance Studios (361 Glebeholme Blvd). More days and times will be added once we determine interest and space availability.
