I love the spring season. It brings a sense of renewal and growth, a perfect time to reflect on how our dancers are developing, not just in their dancing, but in who they are becoming. Last month, as we began preparing for our year-end Showcases, I shared how performance builds progress, potential, and passion, something we continue to build on this month. But at the core of it all is something deeper. As we continue exploring these monthly themes together, this month’s focus is Integrity. Integrity is about doing what is right, even when it’s hard, and even when no one is watching. It’s about taking responsibility for our actions, owning our mistakes, and making things right. When a child can say: “I made a mistake” “I will try again” “I will do better” They are building not just skill, but character, emotional maturity, and self-respect. Stepping onto the stage is a moment of transformation. But it’s not just about the final performance, it’s about the dedication, discipline, and responsibility developed along the way. In our classes, we encourage dancers to:
It’s in the choices they make:
Accountability teaches our dancers that they are in the driver’s seat of their own progress, that their growth is shaped by their effort, attitude, and commitment. Integrity takes it one step further. It’s choosing to follow through on those responsibilities. It’s holding yourself to a standard, not because someone is watching, but because it matters to you. Of course, integrity doesn’t mean being perfect. Mistakes and setbacks are part of the journey. But how we respond to those moments is what builds true character. Just like in performance, where each correction and adjustment strengthens the dancer, integrity allows them to learn, grow, and move forward with confidence. As we move through this exciting season, let’s encourage our dancers, from our youngest to our seniors to:
Step forward. Own your journey. Do what’s right, always. With gratitude, Jane
