At Pegasus Studios we believe that every child should have the opportunity to make positive connections through the arts. Dance with Heart extends our mission of supporting more families in our community through arts education. The Dance with Heart classes are taught by a certified Rhythm Works instructor, a certified Rhythm Works assistant and teen volunteers from our STEP program will assist the children with special needs.
We understand that the many extra costs of supporting a child with diverse abilities and exceptionalities, from therapy to specialized equipment, can be prohibitive in accessing recreational programs. Dance with Heart classes will be provided free of charge to the students including the dance classes, dance attire, recital costumes and other items deemed necessary for the students to participate. The cost of the program will be funded through fundraising and donations from the community. |
Lara Munro is a certified Rhythm Works Teacher and has been teaching adaptive dance classes at Pegasus for the past two years, although her first adapted dance class was with a one on one student 20 years ago. Lara has delved deep into the field of adaptive and special needs learning, both in the dance studio and in alternative education.
Laura Wakefield is a certified Rhythm Works Assistant began her dance training at Pegasus Studios and continues to be active in the community. In her own words: I'm very passionate about the performing arts. My journey started at Pegasus when I was five years old and I have never looked back. Through my journey I have had my own challenges and sensory issues have been one of the challenges that I have learned to work with. The performing arts have been an integral part of me overcoming and facing my challenges head on. I feel so honoured that Pegasus has asked me to come back and to be part of Dance with Heart. This program means a lot to me and I can't wait to share the power of dance with your children. If you are interested please fill out the form below. |
