Examinations and Class Awards provide students with: 

• ​Achievable goals to work towards
• Recognition from the world's largest examining board
• The motivation to achieve their best in a fun and nurturing environment

Ballet exams are not an appropriate choice for all students. The Pegasus Ballet teachers can help you determine if this is a good option for your child. Participation in Ballet Examinations or Class Awards is an optional and personal decision to be made by each family. 

Examinations

Examinations are for students taking two or more Ballet classes of the same level per week; this is the required amount of training needed to be successful in an exam. Students are asked by the examiner to perform the majority of exercises from the syllabus of the Ballet level they are studying. The examiner marks them based on elements such as performance, musicality, technique and several other categories.
Each successful student receives a certificate and a mark sheet from the Royal Academy of Dance. 

Examinations require a high level of dedication and determination. Students are given additional classes in order to prepare for the exam.

Class Awards

A Class Award is similar to the examinations however students are not marked. The students enter the exam room with their teacher and the teacher leads them in a presentation of the syllabus exercise for the examiner. The examiner gives the student written feedback at the end of the exam and a certificate from the Royal Academy of Dance. 

Class Awards are a great way for students to get accustomed to the process of examinations. It is also a wonderful goal to work towards without the pressure of being marked by the examiner. Students are given additional classes in order to prepare for the exam.
