Does your family prioritize dance classes? What happens when your schedule gets busy? Are you tempted to skip classes from time to time? We’re here today to talk about why good attendance matters.

We know just how busy everyone’s schedules can get these days. There’s a lot going on! Between school, homework, family and social commitments, and just feeling tired, it can be a lot to keep up with. With so much going on, it might be tempting to skip a few dance classes—but there are so many reasons why that’s not a good idea.

All About Party Week - October 24-30, 2019

What you need to know about Party Week:

Classes are still happening! Classes will still be structured and focused on teaching all the great skills we teach every week. Only, we will be bringing a party atmosphere to the building.
You can wear a costume to class! Maybe last year's showcase costume, or your Halloween costume, or part of a costume, just make sure you can still dance in it.
You can invite a friend to come to your class with you! Just download the invitation using the button below (or pick on up in class or at the reception desk) and have your friend bring it along to class. Your teacher will make sure to do lots of fun activities that make it easy for your friend to get into the class even if they have never danced before.
Try a new class! This is your chance, all classes are open. Come to any class in your age group just for fun. You don't have to sign up, you don't have to have the right shoes, just come for the fun of it.

Why Quitting Isn’t the Answer

Has your child ever come to you and said they want to quit something? Maybe it was a board game or a homework assignment, or a project they started and weren’t motivated to finish. Maybe it was an activity you signed them up for after school; maybe it was even dance.

Although it tugs at our hearts when a student says they want to quit dancing, we know there are bound to be moments in any educational environment when a child feels frustrated or wants to stop. In dance, they might feel like they’re not catching on to the steps quickly enough, or they think they’re behind because their attendance has been erratic. Maybe they express boredom or say they’re “too tired.” Occasionally they may develop anxiety about something very specific, like the way their shoes fit or how they feel shy around their classmates. Any of these situations can make a young dancer want to quit, but we believe that more often not, quitting is not actually the answer!
